Abyssale alpha release

Our goal was to ship a product with as little features as possible in order to gather feedback asking for specific missing features (we were aware of what was missing) but "artificially" shipping a product lacking in features helped us greatly to shape our product and tech roadmap for the upcoming Beta.

Advice: Ship less is better than too much

Interesting approach. I'm considering something like this myself. How has this worked out for you so far?

Also, when you shipped "less" - how do you determine which features to ship and which to leave for later?
Did you postpone anything that was in your mind a primary feature?

      • So far it is working pretty fine and is giving us enough room to improve the product step by step.

      • TBH most of it was by instinct and what was realistic in terms of dev time, then we did some customer discoveries in order to refine our roadmap.

      • We did postpone a lot of features, and every choice was a tough one... but you need to be as pragmatic as possible and shipping everything is not possible! (or it will take you x months/years before shipping anything at all)

Thank you! We are currently building the Beta but if you are interested we still onboard users for our alpha https://www.abyssale.com
