April 21, 2026 Shipped the MCP subscription last week, first paying customer the same day

Last week I shipped the Pro subscription for the MCP server. 3-day trial, $9/mo after. Got my first paying customer same day (yearly plan, which honestly caught me off guard). One trialist signed up, used it, cancelled before converting. That's the baseline now and it's fine.

Yesterday I spent most of the day debugging a deploy nightmare. The MCP server on Railway was running 7-hour-old code because the GitHub auto-deploy silently stopped firing. Took hours of back-and-forth between Claude (for code), Lovable (for commits), and Railway's agent (for deploy state) to even figure out what was broken. Lesson: set up deploy notifications before you need them. Today I'm launching on HN. Nervous. Will probably post to r/sideprojects later this week.

Honest numbers right now:

- 66 learn articles published

- ~7k active users past 28 days (~10k daily impressions from Google)

- 40 creators, ~200 live skills

- 1 paying Pro sub, 1 trial cancelled

- Pre-seed discussions with VC ongoing

Still a ton of open questions - activation from SEO readers to product users is the big one. If you've cracked that for a dev-tool marketplace, I'd love to hear how.

Will post another update after the HN launch either way.
