April 23, 2023 Looking for MVP feedback - B2B food listings

Agriquery.com is seeking feedback on its MVP. It managed to get a few hundred users from the seller side, and received plenty of feedback, but needs more from a buyers' perspective. The homepage will be redesigned with a much more intuitive way of organizing the categories, and there are plenty of ideas on the list elsewhere, but the more feedback the better.

How do the buyers know the sellers are to up trusted and food quality is high?

March 27, 2023 How I got hundreds of vendors for my online listings in a couple months

When I first tried reaching out to vendors for Agriquery I faced several issues:

  • mistrust
  • language barriers
  • lack of responses

This was mainly when reaching out to people through cold calls. It felt like an uphill battle.

However I finally found 2 ways that worked:

The first way was going up at relevant conventions and trade shows and just having people register in person. Being there in person was key, as it overcame the trust issue and the vendors were so happy to chit chat and explain the issues they faced. I learned a lot about their pain points and the way the companies operate.

Through the same process I found a junior on the sales team of one of the food companies who was happy to help. She wanted a side gig, was bored at her day job, and was anxious to get started on something. She agreed to working on a purely commission basis just so she could hone her skills - it paid off. I think she has a future with the company.

Together we sat side by side and got it off the ground. But if it weren't for going out in person, I don't think things would've moved. Valuable lesson learned.

About

Food producers don't have great choices when it comes to finding buyers B2B. Other marketplaces aren't tailored towards the food business, and if they are, they come with laborious review processes, or they're costly.
