Alive

The human liveliness check that takes action if you die

July 24, 2023 How I came with the idea

During a time I was traveling alone quite a lot and started to figure out how I could leave things sorted for the people I love (partner and cats) if ever something happened to me.

Initially I came with a very simple/dumb system, sending an email to other family members with some basic instructions, however, that was quite annoying because they didn't like it telling that this was not necessary that nothing was going to happen etc.

I knew nothing was going to happen, but if it does, you guys are the ones I'm trying to help. You will know to which banks you'll have to go? If I do have any investing account and where? Do you know my last recent address? All my assets?

Where I live is quite a nightmare to find out this information when somebody passed out and I really love my family so I wanted to make things easier for them.

So I decided to create Alive.is.

The service is very simple, once you create an account you create your own health check.
You set message you want to send (the instructions) and the contact that will receive it. Then you specify the maximum period of time to proof that you're alive, let's say 2 weeks.
When you're reaching 2 weeks the system will send you an email asking you to provide liveliness. If you do it will wait for 2 weeks more, if you don't will send your message to the specified contact.

This is a really great idea for travelers. But I would take it one step further. I created encrypted instructions on cloud storage devices (and USB devices) that can be unlocked with a password so that my loved ones can retrieve hard to access assets like crypto that I have spread across the globe. If you can integrate some password managers and a multisig decryption mechanism, you would have my business. Bonus points for integrating with banks/credit cards to freeze accounts in the event of failure to check in.

Let me know if you are interested in collaborating. I really like this idea.

Sounds interesting, I definitely would like to know more about it!

A lot of times I found myself having to take a flight and thinking...everything will be sorted if today I die? So I decided to create a service to act on my behalf is ever something happens to me.
