October 16, 2020 Free Version is out

Finally! The truly Free version is out !
Store photos in your own GDrive for free
(Dropbox comes later)

The thing was that in the earlier version, the free version was in essence a freemium (or rather even a demo).
User had 200Mb free space for photo storing.
In B2C people are rarely ready to spend money on the purely digital products. So most of the users were stuck with this demo version.
And that bothered me: I was still paying for it, and users weren't quite satisfied either.

But not only this, I was feeling there should be a way for people to be able to collect photos, without having to pay for it.
Especially if they already own some sort of online storage, why should they buy the storage again?

I wanted to find the way to fix it and luckily it was possible!
This is how it works under the hood: the user gives me a permission to save the data on his GDrive / Dropbox and all the photos collected in ALL PICS for this album will store there.
This way I'm not paying for storing user's photos and only paying the marginal price for storing meta-data.
These marginal price I'm about to cover with ads shown in such a free album.

The user has options to remove ads from GDrive Storage for $3/m or subscribe for premium storage (which is also AdsFree).

I'm really looking for a feedback !
Is the album creating flow simple enough ?
Does the option to save the photos in GDrive for free sound appealing ? And feel natural in use ?

June 1, 2019 Develop Develop Develop

Who need a plan when the goal is clear? :)
I've jumped right into development.

It was a long ride.
Over the prototype to MVP and finally to Production App.

Several times after the next version was release I was taking a pause. To gather feedback and users behavior.

Also, technical side has evolved significantly over the time.
I've started with simple React.JS app (back then no hooks and with vanila JS)
And the last version is serverless universal app (Next.JS) with typescript, MobX and all the cool stuff.

June 23, 2018 Problem

My friends and I with other 15 unknown people went on an adventure trip (climbing, kayaking, etc.) this day. During the event the mass of photos were created. Question raised how can we gather photos, from all of these people, most of whom we don't even know?

We tried to share it via WhatsApp, but it quickly became overloaded from too many photos, and they were not sorted etc.
Gathering on GDrive or Dropbox ? But it requires account for guests to upload, and practice shows that many album guests will be too lazy to sign-up there.

We looked for an alternative, but didn't find literally anything that would properly solve that problem.

This sounded like a perfect Problem!
The kind of Problem startups are telling stories about :)
It was clear, it has just one laser-focused essence:
"We need a way to collect photos from event guest without them to sign-up"

About

If you have an event with many people, it's quite exhausting to collect photos from everyone afterwards. And GDrive, Dropbox, etc - all require the guests to have an account to upload photos.
