Renewed enthusiasm
After attending LaraconUS 2019, I've got a renewed level of enthusiasm for this project, so I hope to have some more news to share soon!
I'm in the process of upgrading to Laravel 5.6, and will then be upgrading to 5.8 ready for the release of Laravel 6. I've also been rolling out TailWind CSS to areas of the site, as I find the way it works matches my own way of thinking!
About
Many years ago I created an Excel application to track and compare the golf rounds of a group of friends. I've always wanted to convert this into a web app, and grow it to a sustainable business.

I'm absolutely sharing your level of enthusiasm while working on projects using Laravel and TailwindCSS - both are great frameworks I love to work with.
Good luck! 🤞🏼
I'm not against your work guys but my opinion is that technology ruins everything. Talking about golf, I don't think apps like this one improve the game or make you a better golfer. By using technology, people forget the old ways of playing, and even the pleasure disappears. But should sports keep us away from stress and help us relax? It is better to concentrate on your style of playing and on your clubs than waiting for help from some devices. If you want to change something in your style then try different wedges, if you're into tech, you can find some futuristic looking ones on https://golfclubguru.net/most-forgiving-wedges/.
Hi. I'm a JS developer (React/Node). I am really interested in learning Laravel to help develop my indie projects. I am currently using a node framework called AdonisJS. They say its literally Laravel for JS developers. However, Adonis has a very small community. Hence, why I am considering learning PHP/Laravel since the community is so large.
My question is, how difficult do you think it would be for a JS developer to pick up PHP/Laravel(specifically Laravel). Would you advise getting very proficient at PHP then move onto Laravel?
If you can afford it, Laracasts (https://laracasts.com/) has a lot of awesome resources, from PHP basics, Laravel, Vue, code editors, testing, etc.
There are some free videos also (don't know if any complete series is free though).
thanks
You gonna need to learn some basic concept such as OOP, MVC, Server-client and you're good to go. Basic understanding of PHP clearly is a must.
Which mean, just basic knowledge of above is okay for you to use pick up Laravel and start building server-side stuff.
But the more proficient with them, the more advance knowledge you should crunch. For basic stuff I think 1-2 months is okay, but for advance I think it would be 1-2 years journey.
awesome thank you
Can't wait for Vapor!
