Animalo

It took 4 months to redevelop Animalo.

Its build with Laravel spark and Vue. The product feels great. The feedback from pet hotels is also good.

After some final fine tunings and last minute features (multi currency) and translations Animalo is published online.

Let the adventure continue..

It has been some time since I worked on Animalo. I moved to a new place, worked on the business plan and so on.

I decide to finally commit to Animalo. As I am a freelance consultant I told the company that my availability will be brought down to 2 days a week. It's time to get Animalo on the market.

I clone the git code, setup the website (Drupal) again and come to a conclusion... This is not what I want to bring to market.

The product was glued together. It did not feel as a product. There were too many page loads. It just is not something I would ever want to release.

I get back in to what is available. And I find Laravel Spark, an easy way to bootstrap a SaaS, where you only have to worry about your product and not about the billing.

Great! Lets move on..

I have build a prototype of the platform. I selected Drupal as my platform.

After I have interviewed pet hotels, and browsed various of their websites, I came to some requirements.

Building the base of the project was easy. After a few months I had a working product.

The idea of Animalo comes from me having to leave the country for a few days.

Lex, a Corgi Pembroke was just 6 months old. I could not take him with me, so I went searching for a pet hotel.

After many calls! mails! I was unable to find a pet hotel available. It was short notice, none of the pet hotels showed their availability on the website.

I had to do something about this. Not just for me locally but globally this can be improved.
