A US buying firm reached out to me to buy the app. By this point, we were hitting ~900-1000 downloads a day, with our biggest market being the US.

Its been a fun, unexpected journey considering this all came about from a hobby project that was created while teaching myself iOS development and was only meant to be for me :')

After the fiasco with the Apple App Store review process last month and having the fear of my entire user base being cut off, I decided to build an Android version of the app. The Android version offers the exact same functionality and was written in Java rather than Kotlin, as I was already very familiar with Java which was my first programming language :')
Last month, AnimeHub was doing ok with ~100 downloads a day with ~15% retention after 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I ran into a big snafu with Apple around licensing and the app was (wrongly) taken down. After around 2 weeks of back and forth with Apple, I finally managed to get it back on the AppStore. I was initially worried that my competitors will have gone past me in the rankings and I would have to start from scratch in the rankings, but 3 weeks later and AnimeHub is doing even better than before!
I know 2K a week really isn't a lot but im really excited!
Learnings: After the app was taken off the Apple app store, I realised that my traffic wouldn't have come to a complete halt if I had an Android version on the Google Play Store. For this reason, I've been building an android version of the app.
The app was written in Objective-C and Swift and I cleaned it up, making the UX and UI a bit more polished and removed and added alerts appropriately and released on the Apple iOS app store.
Its only available on iOS for now but if there's enough interest, I'll definitely build an Android version
During my end of term exams, I decided to do something for fun in my downtime after revising. I was spending a lot of my time revising and just wanted one convenient location for every aspect of my anime fix. I made an app that aggregated news from various sources, allowed me to watch free episodes, and read free manga and look up/browse new or upcoming titles.
(I have a life, I swear! 😄)

It sounds like a very nice idea. I hope you managed to do exactly as you set out in your plans. In general, I like such applications, but anyway it depends on what you included in that application. For example, it would be good to have all the possible anime series there, not to have ads, and to quickly find everything you need. If so, then it's really worth it. This reminded me of this site https://kimanime.com where I usually watch anime. It is also very convenient. What other sites do you use? I'm really curious.
