Animica
Post-quantum blockchain for useful work and AI compute
I’m building Animica, a post-quantum useful-work blockchain, and I wanted to share the project with Indie Hackers because it sits somewhere between open-source infrastructure, crypto, AI compute, and a very ambitious solo-founder product.
The basic idea is this:
What if blockchain mining could become more useful over time instead of only producing hashes?
Animica is starting as a Layer 1 blockchain with CPU mining, wallet downloads, a public explorer, and an exchange interface. The long-term vision is to connect mining and network activity to useful compute, AI agents, data availability, and developer applications.
Right now, the ecosystem includes:
Website: https://animica.org
Wallet downloads: https://animica.org/wallet
CPU mining: https://animica.org/mine
Explorer: https://explorer.animica.org
Exchange interface: https://trade.animica.org
Discord: https://discord.gg/vQHJc2jWUJ
Why I’m building it:
I think a lot of crypto has become too focused on speculation and not enough on infrastructure. I’m interested in building something where the chain, wallet, explorer, miner tools, AI compute ideas, and developer ecosystem all grow together.
The post-quantum angle is also important. I want Animica to explore future-facing wallet identity and cryptography instead of only copying older blockchain assumptions.
What I’m working on now:
Improving the wallet experience, mining flow, explorer reliability, exchange UX, documentation, and community onboarding. The goal is to make it easy for someone to download a wallet, mine with a CPU, inspect blocks, join the Discord, and understand why the project exists.
I’d love feedback from other builders on positioning, onboarding, monetization, and how to explain a technical project like this without making it sound too abstract.
Animica is still early, but that is also what makes it exciting. There is room to shape the product, the community, and the developer ecosystem from the ground up.
About
Because Animica is trying to answer a bigger question: What should proof-of-work evolve into? I’m working on Animica because I believe blockchain networks should be more than speculation, token launches, and wasted com
