February 19, 2022 Celebrating 100 paying customers

Today we are hitting the milestone of 100 paying customers for APITemplate.io!

APITemplate.io launched exactly 1 year ago. We rely on inbound marketing for customer acquisition, mostly SEO.

I'm grateful that our customers help us along the way and constantly give us feedback to improve the product.

May 16, 2021 10 paying customers!

A small milestone - 10 paying customers

Most of the customers subscribed in the past 30 days, probably recently we have a few keywords ranking higher or on the first page of Google. The overall sign-up number of users has increased as well, many of the users are on a free plan actively to generate content.

The next few things that we plan to work on probably are conversion, onboarding process, SEO, and marketing.

Very happy for you, these milestones are super important :)
How long has it been up and running?

Thanks! The milestones help to build the momentum and keep me motivated!

We still have a lot to work on esp conversion rate, onboarding, marketing, UI/UX, Features, etc

Exactly 3 months - We officially launched on 16 Feb on PH, so far our marketing channel is just content marketing to bring sign-ups and SEO takes a while to build.

How did you prepare your PH lunch and how did it go? I should start preparing for it too for DynaBlogger.

It flopped, 16 upvotes. It makes me the least qualified person to give advice on PH launch. I registered a PH account and launched it without networking. I read some of the articles online and followed their strategies like I posted on Facebook groups and sent the link to some friends - none of them worked.

Later that day I found out I wasn't get featured on the PH front page. PH has its own algorithm to decide who should be featured, if you don't get to their front page and stay in the new section, then you won't get that many upvotes.

If you don't get the traffic you expected from PH is still alright, there are other channels. Besides PH, you should also look at betalist, saashub and other startup directories for product launching. We managed to be featured on betalist and the traffic spiked.

We integrate with lowcode platforms like Zapier, Integromat and N8n, these platforms sometimes feature us in their marketing campaigns, which brings some traffic as well.

I believe some of the products managed to get huge traffic or even sales from PH, betalist, etc. but this type of spike traffic doesn't last(mostly 3 days or less).

The most substantial channel is still SEO, now most of my signups are attributed to google organic search. It takes time to build while it lasts longer.

Remember to send me a tweet at @imbktan on your PH launch, you will get an upvote from me 😊😊😊

Will do :D Lots of people treat PH like make or break these days, which I think may be a little exaggerate.

Congrats. It might be a small milestone but it's an important one.

Thanks! The first customer is an important milestone as well! Happy for you too. I remember I was so happy when I got the first customer.

      Keep it up!

April 23, 2021 New feature: Generate images with an URL

With Direct URL, you can generate dynamic images or open graph images with a URL(HTTP GET) and dynamic parameters.

Direct URL works without an API Key. It can be embedded into your WordPress, Webflow, or other HTML webpages.

The generated images are cached on our server. New images will be generated only if the parameters of the query strings are modified or the template has been updated. Caching can potentially reduce your cost by reusing the same resources.

February 22, 2021 We are on ProductHunt!

Hello IH! πŸ‘‹

I’m Jacky, today we are excited to launch APITemplate.io on ProductHunt, services that allow you to auto-generate images and PDF documents with a simple API or automation tools such as Zapier(or Integromat, Bubble.io).

We started APITemplate.io because we want to build a content automation tool for designers, marketers, or creators like yourself to create beautiful content. Utilize our array of automation tools with Zapier, Airtable, and UiPath, you can easily automate your content creation for social media, email marketing, and creative banners.

After 4 months of hard work - countless late nights and weekends building the app, and the tutorials, I’m super excited to launch on ProductHunt. IH has been an amazing community throughout the process.

Here's the full Product Hunt launch post, upvoting for us on ProductHunt if you find us interesting!

February 16, 2021 First paying customer

We got our first paying customer! It felt great!

Since the soft launch weeks ago and we are still touching up and adding features to https://apitemplate.io, it seems like Google SEO does it magic to attract some users to sign up for our services.

I'm grateful to work with some of the users. They help to shape the product and provide us with valuable feedback.

For the next few weeks, we will be focusing on wrapping things up and preparing for the official launch - more ads, content marketing, back links and more traffic.

The next milestone should be getting the first 10 paying customers.

December 7, 2020 MVP

I put together everything in 8 weeks.

As a technical founder, It took me awhile to come up with API-first Saas. APITemplate.io was started as a side project and hopefully it might even turn into a startup.

The very initial version is just a simple Django app and AWS Lambda for image and PDF generation. After all the core building blocks have been developed, I worked on the front-end with Vuejs+Fabricjs. Lastly the stripe integration for the recurring subscriptions.

Now I'm working on building the SEO content and marketing the product.
