Design tool for creating App Store & Play Store screenshots.
It wasn't that long ago that seeing users generate and download just a couple of hundred screenshots per month was a surprise to us. Just the fact that we were able to build a tool that gives back to this huge community of indie developers, was enough to keep us going.
Fast forward to this day and we just passed the 50k screenshots downloaded threshold. Keep in mind, we count a download to be a set of screenshots for multiple devices. If we were to count the individual screenshots for each device, that number would be too big for our ego.
The way to reached this important milestone was rather simple. We talk to our users all the time, and just the fact that we listened to the issues they were having, made them an ambassador to our product. Word of mouth is incredibly powerful when you deliver on the needs of your users.
Being at the cusp of passing 10k downloaded screenshots per month, we are fired up to release the new version of AppMockUp and pass even more ambitious milestones.
The initial project took about 2 weeks to complete, and while it didn't have all the features is has today, it was enough to get the attention we needed.
We released AppMockUp on a couple of Facebook groups, mostly iOS and Android development groups. We also made a couple of posts on Reddit as well, that helped a lot with initial feedback.

As someone who has released a mobile app and struggled to find a phone screenshot generator that was both ALL-ENCOMPASSING and FREE, this really hits the nail on the head.
Your site has all the awesome views that others would charge for (slanted phone divided into multiple pics, etc). The UI is super clean and easy to use. I'll definitely be going here for all appstore screenshots.
