ARcheology - Dig Up History

I would love to keep updating this app. I need to get my hands on an Android device to launch there, but I have had issues with Google's Play Store previously.

I would love to expand to human history, that was always the idea, but doing so with respect and thoughtfulness is sometimes tricky. And finding the funds for 3D art can be tough sometimes.

I have applied to various grants and or tried partnerships with museums over the years, to no response.

However, I think there will be something new for this app in 2023 :)

What had started off as a tech investigation into ARKit, proved to amaze my friends. So after over a year of ideation and development, it launched!

The launch day wasn't a huge success, but I was proud of it and initial feedback was good.

Updates were planned.

Apple contacted me about featuring the app!

This had me bouncing around the room. Thanks to the feature it earned about $5k in a weekend if I remember correctly.

It was a funny process, at first I thought it was a spam email 😅 But the team at Apple were really friendly and helpful. Was a delight to work with them.

After the feature a marketer noticed it and contacted me on LinkedIn. We had asked me how I got featured and I said "I simply sent a request through their portal".

He was astounded.

In his years of working he had never heard of that working. Apparently the process was to spend tens of thousands on advertising to get it in front of Apple employees who would then decide to feature it.

While the app has been sitting in the feature section in the augmented reality section of the store, it hasn't had as much of a success since.

Time and money constraints have sadly kept me from working on the app as much as I would like.
