I’m sharing a new update for my latest utility tool: Area of Irregular Shape.

When building my previous calculation tools, I noticed a consistent frustration from users: most things in the real world aren't perfect squares or circles. Whether it’s a backyard, a custom floor plan, or a plot of land, people were struggling to find the area of non-standard polygons without using complex CAD software.

The Approach: I wanted to bridge the gap between "too simple" (rectangles) and "too complex" (engineering software). The goal was to provide a way for users to input multiple side lengths and coordinates to get an instant, accurate measurement.

Key Challenges:

• The Geometry: Implementing the surveyor’s formula (shoelace formula) to ensure accuracy across various shapes.

• User Input: Making it intuitive for someone to describe an irregular shape using only basic measurements.

• Niche SEO: Identifying long-tail keywords where users are searching for specific solutions like "irregular garden area" or "uneven room size."

I’m a big believer that solving small, specific math problems can build a solid foundation for a wider portfolio of utility sites.
