May 5, 2026 I built an AI Bible app because I was tired of shallow answers to real questions

I'm a cybersecurity professional by day — spent years as a Risk Director for a state agency, now running a CMMC compliance firm. Not exactly your typical faith-tech founder.

But I kept running into the same problem: I'd have a real, hard question rooted in Scripture — something I wanted to sit with, journal through, pray over — and every app I tried felt like a glorified devotional widget. Surface-level. Sanitized.

So I built askbishop.app.

The idea is simple: an AI-powered companion grounded in biblical truth that gives real answers to real questions. Not vague inspiration. Actual engagement with Scripture.

Current features include a sermon journal with AI-assisted transcription and a prayer companion. I'm building toward a full premium tier with deeper journaling tools and study features.

I'm about two weeks post-launch. Still early. Would love honest feedback from this community — especially:

  • Does the positioning resonate, or does it sound like every other Bible app?

  • Would you pay for this? What would make it a clear yes?

  • Any faith-tech founders here who've navigated App Store IAP reviews?

Happy to share more about the build — it's a solo project on Firebase + Capacitor + RevenueCat if anyone's curious about the stack.
