Stay on top of your freelance business
We launched our fortnightly newsletter for freelancers last month on Product Hunt.
We had a handful of subscribers before that and today we reached 100 subscribers. So our little experiment to provide value to our customers before launch worked out ok, although we haven't done anything else to grow the newsletter.
Received great feedback on the newsletter. Will continue to refine it and try some more ideas to grow it. 🚀
Part of building Asmi for us was to stay on top of the latest in the freelancing world. It meant that we were always looking for good content about the industry and we did collect a lot of it.
So we started compiling it as a fortnightly newsletter since the last 2 months. Launched on PH today to get some feedback from a wider audience.
We had a basic website that outlined the features and a pre-launch price in a very short manner, but it was not communicating enough about what the product is all about.
Our criteria for this new version is...
- Explain the product in a much better way
- Tell a better story

Mistake - email subject went as Lancer Letter #1 instead of Lancer Letter #2 as I duplicated the campaign and didn't edit the subject line correctly. Didn't notice it even after doing a couple of test emails... 🤦♂️
Joined Growth Space slack group a few days back.
The moderator @shiva_prabhakaran setup a growth mentoring session today. Was a really awesome experience. Learned a few cool growth hacks to try for Asmi.

- Desktop app using electron (react, material-ui)
- APIs using postgresql and graphql (apollo ecosystem) and components deployed on lambda as much as possible
- Deployed on AWS
- Exploring firebase for a few realtime features
- Getting into partnerships with other vendors for white labelled e-signatures and proposal/website builder implementation
- Website is built using Brizy cloud website builder

My pleasure! TAS is a work in progress and hopefully it will continue to grow into helpful product feedback community. Good luck with Asmi - it does look pretty sweet and I look forward to playing around with the Beta!
Great timing for us as we are racing towards pushing out the MVP by June.
He reached out asking if we have an openings but since he's a fresher, we took the more conservative path by asking him to be an intern for a month.
Idea is to engage him in product development activities.
We've been wanting to do a newsletter for a long time while our early access subscribers wait for access to our platform. Finally got around it starting this month.

Also decided to start a newsletter while we build out the platform. We are calling it Lancer Letter 😀and it'll provide curated content about how to become a better freelancer.
Doesn't really translate into much value, but we got our first subscriber without any marketing effort.
The person is actually working on a platform for freelancers, so even though it is not a validation of our platform, it might translate into some kind of partnership in the future.
