Augmentable
A set of tools and services for software developers
Logging this a bit after the fact, but I've been trying to produce more content relevant to my projects (in this case, tickgit.com) and I was finally able to carve out some time to publish a Medium post on #TODO comments and why they can be a useful tool for developers: https://medium.com/@augmentable/todo-comments-are-a-joke-but-they-dont-have-to-be-21b6ffb7530d
For a while now, I've been operating with a "makeshift" landing page that just had some basic info about tickgit.com. Now I have a "real" looking landing page, complete with a hero section, more product info, and proper call-to-actions. I've already seen it translate into an uptick of user signups!

Landing pages can really make a difference especially once the value of your product has time to shine. Great job.

thanks! It's been an interesting learning experience for me as I haven't launched many products before this one. It of course "makes sense" rationally that a better landing page would lead to more conversions, but as a developer, I need to constantly shake myself of the "if I build it, they will come" mentality and be hyper-aware of the product facing improvements that are necessary to drive user actions

Hi congratulations!! Can you share your process? How did you get those sign ups?

It's been a mix of posting on reddit/HN/other sites, some cold emailing/DMing developers on Twitter, and getting featured on sites like BetaList.com. There's always been a small stream of traffic from this, but there were barely any conversions. Just from launching the landing page with a clearer call-to-action and more login buttons, I've already seen a handful of signups in the past 24 hours (which would normally occur over the course of a week)

Thanks! that's great. keep growing:)
Launched the paid version of tickgit.com at $3/month for private repositories! The product will always be free for public Github repos, but now users can use it for their private codebases (on Github anyways).
Hoping to eventually roll out organizational/team-based pricing as well, so that one customer can pay for access for their entire team/org.

Submit a link to HN last night: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21910391 and was shocked to see it on the front page soon after submitting it. The TODO Finder web app is struggling to keep up with the traffic! Needing to upgrade some of the infra it's running on to keep it alive.

congrats! Seemingly direct links mean that any subsequent votes don't count. So in future just link to the newest section :)

Nice, congrats.
Did you do anything special to get that kind of result, I've posted a couple of times to hacker news but don't really see much in the way of results?

We launched our TODO Finder project on ProductHunt: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/todo-finder
We launched this morning, but I think it probably wasn't the best day to post (a Sunday between Christmas and New Years) since we haven't seen much traffic as a result 😞. But we'll keep at it! Excited to have it out there
I'm not sure if many people read Slashdot these days, but it was pretty cool to get approved to be listed onto the frontpage for an article I wrote last weekend featuring my product: https://developers.slashdot.org/story/19/12/22/183214/many-of-kubernetes-2000-todo-comments-appear-to-be-forgotten
There's also some lively discussion in the comments which has a decent source of inspiration so far.

I had been meaning to write a Medium story for some time showcasing what tickgit could do. I published: https://medium.com/@augmentable/looking-at-kubernetes-2k-todo-comments-b2db42dc7fdb. The article is a simple look at all the TODO comments in the Kubernetes' codebase as a showcase of what tickgit can surface. At 3k views so far!

Quietly launched a public TODOs finding UI that can be used for any public git repositories. Check out facebook/react for example: https://todos.augmentable.dev/?repo=https://github.com/facebook/react
TODOs are indexed by a background job and presented as a table, ordered by most-recently-added.
