AutoPilot Hosting
Effortless WordPress hosting for agencies and freelancers.
I hate writing about pages. They are often boring and blah. So I've been putting off talking "About Us". I finally decided to jump in though and write it. I started out with the usual more corporate approach, but the more I wrote about why I started AutoPilot, what we do, and why we do it. I realised being 'usual' doesn't reflect us at all. The page needs some more finessing yet, particularly in the area of looking pretty. BUT, it's written. And it was fun to write, and it reflects me, the business and WHY we exist. So it was actually exciting to write, and hopefully really emphasises that we are all about helping our customers do what they really want to do. Have a read, I'd love any feedback you have: https://autopilot.host/about-autopilot-managed-wordpress-hosting/
Ok, it took a little longer than I anticipated, but we got our first paying customer signed up at least! I'm really excited about that, and am hoping that the data it gives me on how our WordPress optimisation performs on another site will help to sell the next person. So far, we're seeing significant performance gains. Their WordPress site dropped from averaging between 9 and 20 seconds loading time down to between 2 and 4 seconds average loading time!

I decided to reset our revenue. I have hosting clients that will get moved over and start to contribute to revenue here, but for now, as it's a completely new business as well as rebrand, I think it's only fair to start at $0 and work our way up from there. Here's hoping all of our prior clients come across!

It took just under a month, but I'm finally done building a new website, rejigging pricing and releasing the minimum viable product for AutoPilot Hosting. I worked mostly nights around my regular digital marketing work at TerraMedia, and of course, the website is built on Wordpress. After reviewing a number of server platforms, I'm satisfied we've got a great product, but I know customers can be fickle. I'm excited to start getting it out there and see what people think about the product so far!

After 11 years of hosting under the TerraMedia Hosting brand as an "add-on" service, I decided to separate the hosting product out as it's own individual business entity in order to better brand it, market it and just generally provide a better experience for our target customers - other agencies!
