AutoTailor - Chrome extension for tailoring your CV

February 3, 2026 I built a Chrome extension to tailor resumes - 100 users and counting

AutoTailor is a Chrome extension that helps job seekers tailor their resumes for each job posting - directly on the page. Unlike auto-apply tools, it generates a new DOCX of your resume, letting you review and edit every AI suggestion, so you stay in full control.

Since launching, AutoTailor has helped 100 users and generated 5 paid subscriptions, and I’m actively improving it with new features based on early user feedback.

December 21, 2025 I got tired of rewriting my CV for every job, so I built a Chrome extension instead

A while back, I was applying to jobs almost every day, and I had to rewrite my CV every single time since its been tough to get interview calls especially with all the AI ATS filters that companies are using now.

I tried a few tools to speed this up, but most of them were websites. That meant:

  • copying job descriptions

  • switching tabs constantly

It broke the flow of applying.

So I started wondering:
why isn’t this just a Chrome extension that works directly on the job posting page?

That’s how I ended up building AutoTailor.

The idea is simple:

  • Upload your CV once

  • Open any job posting

  • Click “Analyze”

  • Tailor your CV to that specific role

  • Optionally generate a matching cover letter

I recently got my first paying user, which was a small but very motivating milestone.

I’m still early and would love feedback from people here:

  • Does this solve a real problem for you?

  • What would make it genuinely useful during job hunting?

the chrome extension approach is smart - no context switching. the ats game is brutal right now so anything that helps match keywords without sounding robotic is useful. congrats on the first paying user

      Thank you so much!

Yes its really been a struggle thats why the tool actually started as something I wanted for myself but many users found it helpful too so Its kinda what motivated me to publish it. Yeah to be honest some keywords that sound meaningless to us but have caused our CV's to just be thrown...

Great job! I would definitely try it, as when I used to apply for jobs, I used ChatGPT for every resume, and it was like hell: upload, copyC, copyV, save, send. Your product solves a real pain. Good luck!

      Thank youu for your words!

Please let me know if you try it in the future I would appreciate your feedback.

Yes I did use chatgpt too in the past they using ai anyway to scan our CV's so I think its fair we respond in the same way hahah! That was kind of the idea you also had to upload your resume to chatgpt multiple times as it would forget the data copy all the job posting description... Its much easier having it as chrome extension as you have it in any site you visit and it can just scrape that site by itself.

How are you going to match the job description if the applicant has none related to it?

Well I'll take for example you are a fullstack developer and applying for a frontend role your CV should be focused on showing more the frontend aspects than the backend since they dont care much about your backend knowledge and you might just not get picked. This is just one of the examples, in the beginning when I was developing it would just invent new things but I changed it since that wouldnt be appropriate.

If you have an idea on how this could be handled better please let me know Im open to listening and that would help me improve it
