- Entering co-founder who will lead Operations
- 2 MVp clients are not continuing but 2 new clients are jumping in shifting completely to my system and becoming the first paying clients fo Bumerang. Putting Bumerang in 935€/month

Today I have kickstarted Bumerang in our 2nd restaurant, no sign-ups today but very good feedback from the people who are loyal clients to the place.
Our first restaurant has now created 12 users for our network, few of them have already used the service more than once.
We have served 14 meals in our reusable container, therefore avoiding 14 single-use packaging.
Growing slowly but steady!

Yesterday we officially launched Bumerang takeaway with our first ever client, a restaurant in the center of Barcelona offering delicious healthy takeaway bowls. I went there and personally delivered the bowls as well as stayed there for 4 hours explaining the customers of the restaurants about the new service we were trying to offer. Out of the 40-50 customers, 4 decided to try out the system, the sign-up form through Typeform worked wonders and the integrated stripe system made the payment of the 10€ fee super super easy and fast. By the end of this week I hope I can also kick-start the other 2 restaurants that signed up and grow the user case as well as keep learning about how the users of the system want this to work. Is the beginning of a very long journey.

Today I went and visited 5 more restaurants, a few of them I was visiting for the 2nd time. To start with our pilot phase we want only 3 to 5 restaurants. So it's better to know that the ones we are actually talking to really Don't want before going to search and convince new ones.
I have to say it's fairly simple to sign them up because we are giving away 2 months of free trial with 10 or 20 bowls per restaurant/day, however we are telling them that after that period we will jump to a 100€/month subscription. They look pretty okay with that if we can make sure they use the 50 bowls/day we say we will provide. We are also thinking on scaling our first clients little by little, but this will depen on the users response. If people start signing up in loads then we will need to scale sooner.
Step by Step!

Nice to see the approach of just getting out there and speaking to them. Obviously, it seems to suit the business model!

Yep, for our business model and type of service is crucial to get out there and talk directly to the potential clients. It's a totally new service, no competition in our country, so if I send an email and explain them they don't get it. We are also selling a service tied to physical product, the bowl, so when they can see and touch them, they kind of decide if they like it and want to be part.

After yesterday's success I didn't think it could go any better. But yesterday on the evening I received a whatsapp from oone of the owners I visited saying if I could come on friday (today) and explain her better and get started! I went and she is totally in, she is very enthusiast, wants to promote us on instagram and directly on the PoS.
I also visited more restaurants and they were pretty positive, however it's hard to bump into the decision maker, so I would need to come back again and try to catch him on email which can be very difficult to get attention because it's a totally new thing.
Let's see how this rolls out. Thanks for all the enthusiasm and courage!

Today it's been a big day for Bumerang, we started going out on the streets to talk to restaurants. Me and my partner visited 18 restaurants, from those 6 want to sign up. One of them is already telling me to visit her tomorrow again.
We went to visit restaurants with one of our bowls, a printed flyer and the offer of 2 months for free to test us out. I was not expecting this kind of positive enthusiasm. As a very new concept and non-existent in the market at the moment I though they would tell us off.
Things we did well:
- Create the minimum viable image: website, logo, bowl
- Go with a clear offer: 2 months for free, after that 100€/month for 50 bowls
- Have a clear idea of the type of business that can be interested. Takeaway places with no sitting option and with high volumes.
Next milestone is to start the pilot and create users!

Wow that's awesome - it's tough to go out there and hit the pavement to make new customers - and to get a 33% positive response rate - that's incredible. Good luck.

Thanks JOhn! Yes it's awesome. I think we did a great job picking our target. Because everytime we get to a restaurant is like if they were waiting for us to come! Today I've signed up my first restaurant!

Interesting service
Are you selling them bowls or leasing them?
How do they get the bowls back?-
1
Hi Nathan! Thanks for asking. We don't sell the bowls, we just give them to the restaurant with a one-time deposit fee that will be returned if they decide to unsubscribe from our service.
The business model is a PaaS (Product as a Service): The restaurant pays a monthly fee for the cleaning and re-distribution of the bowls. They don't own the bowls but will always have bowls available to them, that's our mission.
Users of the bowls can return them at any restaurant of the network. Maybe in the future even to some drop off stations like mailboxes!

Our website and simple brand image is live. We took some pictures of ourselves buying takeaway food in the bowls we want to use and just used these images for the website. It's been a very easy process to create a website with Wix and to implement the different widgets. Now it's time to get clients

This week we finally found a supplier of beuatiful high quality bowls for our service. We even have discovered that he is the supplier of one of our main competitors in Germany, so this proves we were in the right track choosing the kind of bowl.
Other achievements:
- We have also been refining our potential clients list, next week we are going full in to get them onboard.
- We have almost finished the website
- Small photoshooting with a friend getting some yummi poké bowls in Barceloneta beach

in the recent years, Food take-away services and food delivery are growing insanely. Nowadays is rare to know someone who cooks their meals everyday as our families used to do when we were kids, we live in a very fast paced society with very little time so the "no cooking" economy has started. We all have more time to spend on instagram and that's great, right?
With the raise of these kind of services, there is a hidden side of the coin that normally gets unnoticed, the huge amount of waste that is created by the containers containing all your food.
Introducing bûmerang box
We want to continue making your life easier without the problem of creating tons of waste every time you order takeaway food. Bûmerang will be a packaging service for restaurants where users will be able to receive their food on a reusable container, when they are done eating, the only thing they have to do is return the containers in one of our partner shops and continue with their daily life.
We are starting this project in sunny Barcelona, with a small MVP to validate the viability of the business model, to start no technology will be created, is important to answer the following questions:
-
Are restaurants willing to pay the minimum price for the service? (100€/month per 50 containers/day)
-
Do restaurants want to clean their own containers?
-
Are takeaway food consumers worried about this problem and willing to improve it using our service?
