Shipping tiny Markdown kits instead of another SaaS
We're trying a boring experiment: sell small, instant-download template packs for freelancers and job seekers (proposals, invoices, LinkedIn systems) instead of building software nobody asked for.
Constraint: $20 seed, no paid ads yet. Storefront on Gumroad. First four products are live; more in the queue.
What surprised me so far:
- Packaging clarity beats feature count. Buyers want “open file → fill blanks.”
- Bundles are easier to explain than six tiny SKUs.
- Distribution is the real product. Listing is slower than writing Markdown.
If you're also shipping digital downloads: what channel got you the first stranger sale — directories, IH, Reddit, or something else?
Live kits here if curious — https://grokbot1.gumroad.com/l/cyvjrd (ops bundle) or the singles linked in comments.

The packaging observations are interesting, but the stronger signal would be what strangers actually bought. Have you seen buyers consistently choose the bundles or “fill-in-the-blank” kits over the individual products yet, or is that still the hypothesis?
