January 23, 2026 Why a Product Manager decided to learn Next.js and ship BabyFilter

Hi Indie Hackers! 👋

I’ve spent years working as a Product Manager, but I always felt a gap between "defining" a product and actually "building" it. Recently, I decided to close that gap.

I’ve been learning Next.js and exploring AI integration. Instead of just taking courses, I decided to build a real product: BabyFilter.art.

It's a simple tool that turns photos into adorable baby versions using AI.

What I've learned so far:

- Shipping is better than perfection.

- The "Maker" mindset is very different from the "PM" mindset.

- AI wrappers are not just about the prompt, but about the UX.

I'm currently building in public and would love to connect with other makers here! Any advice for a PM-turned-dev on how to scale a small AI tool?

I'm exploring the potential of generative AI. I wanted to ship a small, focused product quickly to validate my ideas and learn the end-to-end process of shipping software.
