BabyLog

Simple baby tracking for modern parents

May 6, 2026 The First Side Project I Actually Followed Through With

I built BabyLog after becoming a parent and realizing most baby tracking apps either felt bloated, outdated or tried way too hard to become “the parenting platform”.

Originally it was just supposed to be a small side project for our own household:

  • feeding

  • sleep

  • diapers

  • milestones

  • photos

  • timelines

But it slowly turned into my playground for experimenting with ambitious PWA features, realtime sync, offline support and other over-engineered ideas I normally wouldn’t dare ship in production apps.

The funny thing is that having a real personal use case changes everything. I’m no longer building hypothetical features for hypothetical users. Every annoyance immediately becomes visible at 3am while sleep deprived.

The project still has no clear business model and I honestly don’t know if it ever will. Right now I mostly enjoy building something genuinely useful for my family while learning a ton in the process.

Also:
my dog wants credit because apparently it works surprisingly well for pet tracking too.

Built BabyLog after becoming a parent and wanting a baby tracker. Now it’s both a useful family tool and my playground for ambitious ideas and over-engineered features. My dog wants you to know it works for pets too...
