Remote Database Backup Made Easy
As part of our marketing strategy, we created and published our first article at https://backupowl.staticmaker.com/step-by-step-mysql-backup.
We are going to keep on producing valuable articles for developers and spread the content on the internet.
I hope this strategy can help with our traffic.
I have launched the product to product hunt(https://www.producthunt.com/posts/backupowl). As expected, it does not attract any users. However I am not discouraged, this is pretty common for a new product.
I have also created its twitter handler(https://twitter.com/staticmaker1) and plan to do some content marketing. Persistence is what I need for now.

It took me 4 weeks to finish the MVP. It does the bare minimum required. It allows me to connect to a database server, select a database, and schedule a backup job.
Backup Owl requires zero codings. Which is pretty much what I need for my job.
My tech stack:
- Laravel
- Bootstrap
- Ubuntu

As a developer at my day job, I had to set up a remote database backup for each new project.
The process involved including SSH into the database server, create a bash script to backup the database to S3 bucket and schedule a daily cron job. Even though the task is simple, but it is very tedious. Not to mention what happens if the cron job does not run on time.
That is when I decided to create Backup Owl, an automation service that will allow me to create remote database backup with ease and give me peace of mind.

Tired of setting up CLI scripts as a developer. I decided to create a service to automate this process.
