Bacon
Get paid to code. An ad network inside your AI coding agent.
Like a lot of you, I spend an embarrassing amount of time staring at my
terminal waiting for Claude Code to finish thinking. Last week I figured:
might as well get paid for that wait.
So I built Bacon — an ad network that lives inside AI coding agents.
How it works:
• While Claude thinks, ONE clearly-labeled ad renders in the spinner line.
• An advertiser pays for that moment. You keep 50%.
• Your prompt never leaves your machine — only a coarse intent signal does.
• Free, opt-in, and you can dial it to zero anytime.
[terminal screenshot — the spinner ad + "+$0.0051 · balance $41.88"]
I went in expecting the obvious reaction: "ads in my terminal? gross."
And honestly, fair. The whole bet is that ads aren't evil — non-consensual,
unlabeled, data-harvesting ads are. So Bacon is the opposite of all three:
labeled every time, opt-in, and it pays the person whose attention it uses.
Two things I'm genuinely unsure about and would love this crowd's take on:
1. The 50/50 split — too generous to survive, or the only number that makes
a dev actually turn it on?
2. Is "an ad you get paid for" a real category, or am I just describing a
worse version of something that already exists?
Roast it. I'd rather hear why it won't work now than after I've spent
another week on it.

So i just build this, last weekend and now im out to solve the 2 sided marketplace problem, wish me luck.
