AI Solar & BESS Design Automation Platform

February 24, 2026 I built an AI tool that automates solar & BESS engineering workflows — after years of doing it manually

For the past 12 years, I’ve been working as a solar design engineer on utility-scale and commercial projects.

One thing always frustrated me.

Even in 2026, most solar and battery system design still depends heavily on Excel, manual calculations, and fragmented tools.

A typical workflow looked like this:

• BOQ preparation in Excel
• cable sizing using separate calculators
• feasibility and financial analysis in another tool
• energy simulation somewhere else
• and then manually combining everything into a report

This process easily took 6–14 hours per project.

And every small change meant repeating most of the workflow again.

That friction became worse when working on multiple projects simultaneously.

So I started building something for myself.

Initially, it was just small internal tools to automate cable sizing and BOQ generation.

Over time, it evolved into a full platform.

That platform is now BAESS.APP.

It automates key solar and BESS engineering workflows like:

• BOQ generation
• system sizing
• cable sizing
• feasibility analysis
• financial modeling
• project costing
• and report generation

The goal is simple:

Reduce engineering time from hours to minutes.

Not replace engineers—but remove repetitive manual work.

Energy simulation is always free, and AI credits are only used for advanced automation features.

The app is live now, and I’m looking for feedback from engineers, consultants, EPC teams, and anyone working in solar or storage.

You can try it here:
https://www.baess.app

I’d especially love feedback on:

• usability
• missing features
• and real-world workflow gaps

Still early. Building in public.

Happy to answer any questions about solar engineering workflows, automation, or how the tool works internally.

About

BAESS.APP automates solar and BESS engineering workflows like BOQ, cable sizing, and feasibility analysis. Built after experiencing how slow and manual these processes are using spreadsheets and fragmented tools.
