BankerBox (Acquired by Intralinks - SS&C)
Mergers & Acquisitions - Transaction Management, Evolved
BankerBox was acquired in April of 2020 by Intralinks an SS&C Company. I remember, when I first sat down with the Rails Tutorial by Michael Hartl, learning how to build a Twitter clone after graduating college... I never would of guessed, years later an app I coded out would be acquired, yet alone by a multi-national corporation.
After 6-7 months of hard work. We had a solid version one of the platform. Bankers could kick off a new "Deal" or "Transaction", add buyers into groups that they wanted to reach out to, track emails (sent, viewed, etc.) and even upload supporting Deal Documents and Files to the platform.

Back in Feb of 2017 I was called out of the blue by an old co-worker. He had said he met this Investment Banking at a Happy Hour in Denver that was working on a SaaS App for the IB space. He told him "You got to meet Michael", he's a ex-co-worker of mine that runs a Software Start-up in the Municipal and Private Swimming Pool Space and could weigh-in on your app idea.
Next I know, I am sitting down in a coffee shop in Denver, CO with Justin, the banker. Going over all the way-over-priced software quotes he had received from a variety of local dev-shops in town.
I did an extensive analysis of each and every quote, outlining the pros, cons, languages, level of MVP developed, etc. from each shop, into a book-length email to Justin.
The rest, is history, Justin had asked me to join him in executing his vision, to streamline and automate manual workflows and copies upon copies of Excel, Word, and PDF documents into an innovative online platform that would allow bankers to save hours of time and take their M&A workflows to the next level.
