Banter is a mobile app that lets you stay in touch with the people you care about through video messages. Think of it as a longer-form Snapchat that's focused on conversation instead of the camera.

I moved to a new city recently and found it difficult to keep in touch with all of my friends and family back home. I wanted a way to recreate the sense of presence and camaraderie that I feel whenever I talk with them in person. Text messaging just wasn't cutting it for me, and video chatting was too inconvenient.

I thought: what if I made video chatting asynchronous? Then I could feel more connected with my friends who live far away, without needing to always schedule a time to catch up with them. And they can easily stay up-to-date with the stuff that goes on in my daily life.

We're currently on the front page (below the fold) with 12 upvotes, but I'm excited to see how much we can grow today :)

I am currently in the process of launching my startup and marketing it in order to get more users.

I've realized that launching is not a big bang event. It's a continuous process that requires a lot of hard work -- from posting your startup on different websites, to getting the right users to download your product. Just getting people to notice what you have built is a struggle in and of itself.

I currently have 13 users, most of which are my friends and family. It's hard to extend beyond this initial group of users and get people who don't know you to download and use your product!

If anyone has any tips in order to get my product in front of more eyes, I'd love to exchange thoughts here.
