Barebackups

I have finally launched an initial working version of Barebackups. Currently, the app supports Remote MySQL & mysqldump database backups. If I get enough traction, I'll add PostgreSQL, MongoDB & File backups.

I have kept a 60-day free trial because its gonna take some time to incorporate a company and activate the Stripe integration.

Rather than working on new features, I am going to focus on getting users now. There are few adverts scheduled in August, September, October for a variety of developer-focused newsletters.

The goal is to get around $50k ARR by May 2021. That would give me the ability to reduce 80% of my consulting work.

My only focus is to be a one-person company by building tools in multiple niches that don't have a huge market. Backups are a very tough space to form a company but its great space for someone who wants to simply replace their income. I don't think Barebackups would ever go beyond $10K MRR. Actually $10k MRR is very ambitious for backups. Even if I reach $5k MRR, it's a great income for me as an individual as the margins are above 80%

I started working on this micro-SaaS about a week back. I have implemented the following features by now:

• RemoteMySQL Backups
• Website Landing Page
• Pricing

The goal is to launch by 31st July which is my birthday as well. My thoughts behind this backup took is simple: a one-person company. I want to keep this as simple as possible. No complex fuss. Schedule database backups at a schedule you want and done! This is a pure backup tool - nothing else.

Stripe Update:

I am from India and would be incorporating a company with Atlas in the US. I am starting that process in the next couple of days. The app would be launched on 31st July but it seems that payment integration will take some time.

Marketing Update:

I have scheduled a few ads with developer-focused newsletters like Ruby Weekly, JS Weekly, CSS Weekly, Cron Weekly over Aug, Sep & Oct.

I plan to launch it on ProductHunt & Hacker News by September as well.

I wanted a simple & affordable tool for my database backups. All available tools were a bit complicated OR out of my price range. I decided to code a dead-simple MySQL backup scheduler with affordability in mind.

Goal - launch on 31st July (my birthday)
