August 28, 2020 Started working on the MVP

I started working on the MVP.

As someone who has been only coding since last year, this will easily be my biggest and most complex project to date.

I'm pretty excited to build but but at the same time I'm also nervous about how it will turn out and whether or not people will actually like it.

I still need to figure out:

  1. Where can I launch it?
  2. How am I going to price it?

August 18, 2020 Created wireframe / mock up

I spent the entire afternoon creating a basic mock up / wire frame of my idea. I showed it to my brother who is a producer and he told me he would use it.

It really motivated me to continue to want to pursue the idea.

So far so good in terms of validation.

My biggest question is : Are people willing to pay for this?

This is something I guess I will have to validate once I release the MVP.

August 14, 2020 Created a basic landing page to gauge interest

To validate my idea, I created an instagram and a basic carrd.co landing page with an email form.

I started reaching out to potential customers on IG and within the week I got 8 new sign ups who are interested.

I also chatted with a potential customer who was really excited and actually wanted to work with me on this. He also gave me some good insight on what he want even more than the tool I'm building.

To be honest, it kind of confused me because I was getting some positive responses/ sign ups for the current idea, but this guy came a long and told me he thought it would be even more useful if I had X, Y, Z features. It was kind of overwhelming and I'll have to look back at this later.

I learned so far that the idea has potential. So I'm deciding to go ahead with building the MVP

July 1, 2020 Came up with the idea

I came up with the idea after working on my previous project that helped music producers and artists connect with each other.

I learned that the previous project didn't really solve a problem that people thought was really important.

I didn't do any customer research the first time around (big mistake), so I decided to actually interview potential customers.

One of the biggest I found was that they were struggling with:

  1. Communicating / following up with artists who said were going to use their tracks
  2. keeping track of potential customers that would be working with them or buying a track from them.

My solution to that was to create a tool that could help them do both.
