Beautiful Dingbats

#2 Product of the Day on product hunt, 40,000 new users in 3 days, and barely anyone signing up to the mailing list, or taking a look at my other work.

If a million more people go on the site it might become worth it!

I used Vue.js to quickly cobble together the website. It would simply map each letter in the alphabet (and numbers) to the corresponding character in the correct set of Unicode. In this case characters in the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. ugh.

Anyway, once that was done, it was time to release the thing.

I decided to create a free product that would go viral and lead people to my other work.

I had seen a few people using fancy fonts where they shouldn't be, so I set to work trying to find out how they'd done it.

A tool to help people do this had an inherent virality to it, people would want to show off their fancy fonts, and others would ask how it was done.
