I want to share something I just shipped and the story behind it.
The problem
Like a lot of people, I always had good intentions with money. But every month I'd get to the end and wonder where it all went. Food, subscriptions, rent, random purchases — it adds up fast. And without visibility, saving feels impossible.
I genuinely believe we don't know what tomorrow brings, and that makes saving important. But I couldn't find a tool that was simple enough to actually use every day.
So I built one.
What I built
Befined — a clean, visual budget tracker with:
Monthly budget setting and tracking
Expense categories with custom icons and colors
Recurring payments (rent, subscriptions) — log in one click
Beautiful charts (line, donut, bar)
Multi-currency (EUR, USD, GBP, JPY, CHF, CAD, AUD)
Full user accounts with private data
Mobile responsive

The build
I'm not a developer by trade — I work in IT. I used React, Supabase for auth and database, Vercel for deployment and Stripe for payments.
The whole thing from idea to live product with payments took about 2 days. I'm honestly still surprised it works 😄
What I've learned so far
Building is the easy part. Distribution is hard.
I posted on Reddit (got banned from r/personalfinance 😅), launched on Product Hunt, and I'm now figuring out how to reach people who actually need this.
If you've had success marketing a personal finance tool I'd genuinely love to hear how you did it.

Shipping a SaaS in 2 days is impressive.
You're also touching on the hardest part early — distribution. Many founders realize this only after months of building.
cheers! Honestly the 2 days of building felt easy compared to the distribution challenge 😅 I naively thought a good product would find its own audience .. buuut turns out that's just the beginning.
What's your experience been with distribution?
We're still figuring that out 😅
For now we're mostly just talking about the idea in communities like Indie Hackers and seeing what resonates.
Interesting idea. Tools that help people understand financial behavior or make better financial decisions seem to be gaining a lot of traction lately. I’m currently building a niche fintech platform focused on helping Muslims discover halal financial products in the U.S., and one challenge we see is that many people struggle to even find trustworthy options.
That's a really interesting space... helping people make better financial decisions is exactly where I think the biggest opportunities are right now. We're both solving different sides of the same problem!

I definitely have a tough time keeping track of funds going out, I just usually hope for the best when its time to pay my credit card bills!
Yup, that's exactly why I built this.. the 'hope for the best' method is way too stressful! I started with an excel sheet but hated 10 min later :D Give Befined a try, it takes 2 minutes to set up and you'll never have that end-of-month surprise again.

Buddy the UI and the frontend honestly doesn’t feel so good and the scrolling is not working properly on mobile
