Belongings

Utility App on iOS to help manage and track your belongings

October 6, 2021 My app was featured on iMore.com

The app was featured on iMore.com and was a huge driver towards number of downloads. Over a 2 day period the app was downloaded more than 800 times.

I think my biggest takeaway from this experience is don't be afraid to reach out to journalists. Talk to them on Twitter or send an email. Many won't respond but someone might read your email and think to themselves "Hey this looks cool"

September 20, 2021 App is now available on the AppStore

Belongings App is now available on the AppStore for £1.79 as a one-off purchase.

I have some new features planned that I'll probably start in the next couple of weeks but feels good to finally have it in front of people and on devices. My next priority will be getting the macOS version of the application ready and shipped. It's currently in beta.

September 14, 2021 App has been submitted for review

Whilst watching the #AppleEvent getting hyped for the iPhone 13. I made the final tweaks to Belongings and have finally submitted the app for review hoping for it to be approved and released next Monday (20th September)

I have also notified all websites that focus on Apple news so hopefully will get some coverage.

Lastly I submitted a request to the "Getting Featured on the AppStore" page that I feel like most developers are not aware of (I only recently found the link) https://developer.apple.com/app-store/getting-featured/

August 24, 2021 Launched Landing Page

I launched https://belongings.app and setup a newsletter for people to sign up to so they can get notified when the app launches later this fall on iOS.

The landing page was created using NextJS, React & TypeScript. Built using my own UI Framework https://github.com/mintuz/marvel which allowed for quick prototyping.

June 1, 2021 The Initial Idea

My Home Insurance was up for renewel and every year I always make a guess at how much my home contents are worth, I created this app to get an accurate picture of how much my belongings are worth.

Some insurance providers also require you to provide receipts or photographs of any items you wish to claim for so the app allows you to store receipts and photographs.
