Big 4 Transparency

Earnings Transparency for Accountants.

December 1, 2021 I really have something here. How do I monetize?

I don't want a bunch of miscellaneous google ads over my site, so I work out an affiliate deal with a company catering to accountants. I see the promise this website holds (although the product I chose to promote has a long conversion cycle and has yet to earn me a single affiliate dollar).

I've got renewed interest in the project, and decide I should allow myself to keep developing.

October 1, 2021 Holy $h!t people really like this

I check the website I built, and basically at any given moment there are dozens of people looking at the google docs of earnings results. The website is getting absolutely crazy traffic, and it's just something I quickly slapped together.

... Okay it's time to refine this thing. I start to implement better controls on the data formatting, start to clean up the website a little bit. There are thousands of entries, many of them have really low quality unusable data. I sit down one evening, delete around 500 entries of low quality data and clean up the formatting of new required entries.

August 1, 2021 Came up with my idea

I've been wanting to learn no-code tools for a while. I've clicked around in them but can't really decide what it is I should do, and don't think I can learn these effectively without a product. I open Fishbowl app and Reddit and see the millionth earnings thread where accountants share the city they're in, what raise they got, and what firm.

This is ridiculous I think. Year after year there's these threads that require you to dig forever to find something useful to yourself. This wouldn't be that hard to standardize and get all into one place.

So I get to work building Big4Transparency.com

About

A place to centralize earnings data points for accountants. I want to bring transparency to the accounting industry and eliminate data asymmetry leading to people accepting bad salaries.
