Dumb Shit on the Internet

December 15, 2019 Rebuilt the Site

I had some free time, I figured I'd rebuild the site as an excuse to learn Next.js and Zeit Now. It was a lot of fun, coded it up on my iPad and relaunched the site. People have slowly been rediscovering it and back up to around 5k page views a week. Though most of the engagements with the images generated are off platform.

🤔 Anyone know how i'd be able to track that?

October 15, 2017 Site went down

I had a full time job and wasn't maintaining the site. The site went down, people started tweeting me, but I never made the time to get it back up and running. This period lasted for a couple of years. I was amazed however over that time period how many people tweeted at me that it was broken even after it had been down for over 6 months. People still really liked the site.

April 13, 2013 Went Viral

Checked the Google Analytics, someone on a music board in Brazil stumbled upon it and started sharing it out. The site was going viral and hundreds of thousands images were generated and shared around the internet. I didn't notice it went viral until years later.

April 7, 2012 Came up with Idea

Was having dinner with my roommates. He mentioned that his brother had a tumblr blog with over 45k followers. I was amazed, we pulled up the blog and one of the top posts at the time was the Bill Clinton Swag image that had been hand photoshopped. I sat there thinking that it would be incredibly easy to script and could be a fun meme generator that people could share around. I took the next two days off and built a basic site and launched it

About

I didn't want to go to class one day so I built that. I left it on the internet for a couple years and people started sharing it around. Now i'm coming back to it to create a print on demand store based on it.
