BillAlign
Group 10+ bill due dates into 2–4 paycheck-aligned paydays
I never had a budgeting problem. I had a timing problem, and it came with a monthly tax on my brain.
Every month, it was the same ritual. Rent's due the 1st, but I get paid the 3rd. Two bills land before this paycheck, three after. Does this cheque cover them, or do I wait for the next one? My household income wasn't a clean monthly salary; it came weekly, biweekly and monthly, landing on different dates every month, so the answer changed every single month. I was constantly redoing the same mental math, shuffling money to cover gaps, and I still overdrafted more than once. Not from being broke. From bad choreography.
Every budgeting app I tried missed this. They tell you what you spent and how much is left. None of them answered the one question I actually had: which paycheck is supposed to cover which bill?
So I built BillAlign.
You enter your bills and your pay schedule - weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, or monthly. It handles households where two people are paid on different cycles with a side hustle and a child benefit cheque. It groups your scattered due dates into 2–4 payment windows that line up with when money actually lands, and it recalculates automatically as your pay dates shift every month. So instead of redoing the math every month, you just open it and see: this window covers these bills. The recurring mental load is gone.
A few decisions I stand by:
On-device only. No account, no signup, no cloud. Your financial data never leaves your phone. Harder to build, non-negotiable for a money app.
Not a budgeting app. No spend tracking, no categorization. The point is timing, not surveillance of how you spend.
Subscription, not ad-supported. $39.99/year with a 30-day trial. I'd rather earn a small base of people who find it genuinely useful than chase installs.
It's live now on the App Store and Google Play.
The thing I'm still wrestling with: the core idea, group bills around paychecks so you stop doing the math, is instant to explain in person but weirdly hard to compress into a one-line tagline. If you've nailed positioning for a "new category" product people don't yet know to search for, I'd love to hear how.
Happy to get into the build (React Native / Expo), the on-device architecture, or the go-to-market grind.

The shift here isn’t budgeting vs tracking—it’s that most financial tools assume money is a monthly cycle problem, when real life is a timing mismatch problem. The insight that stood out is that overdrafts often aren’t caused by lack of income, but by misaligned cash arrival vs obligation timing. If BillAlign consistently solves coordination instead of visibility, it feels like a different category entirely.
