January 13, 2021 Launch Number 2 - Product Hunt

Since the first launch, I implemented a couple of improvements:

  • it didn't work on safari D:
  • adding an about section for people who didn't know what binaural beats are
  • increasing the allowed frequencies to 1000 at the request of one of the users

The launch post is here https://www.producthunt.com/posts/binaural-focus

I was happy to get featured - I'm not sure exactly why this happened, but it definitely helped get more people to my site and giving feedback!

January 4, 2021 Launch Number 1 - Reddit

I chose /r/GetStudying as a suitable subreddit to share binaural focus with. I thought students would surely be interested in something that improves their focus. Here's the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GetStudying/comments/krmq7h/hi_rgetstudying_use_binaural_beats_to_focus_i/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

For my first launch I think it went pretty well, I got some decent feedback and had about 340 visitors to the site on day 1.

January 3, 2021 MVP Built

Building on the simplicity of the idea, I wanted to make the implementation of the idea real simple too.

I wanted to have a really lightweight static site, built using just html, javascript and css.

The UI elements were quite quick to implement, and generating the audio was pretty fast too thanks to some built in js libraries.

I made the website live leveraging AWS S3 Static website hosting.

January 1, 2021 A Simple Idea

I have always liked using binaural beats to help myself focus when working.

I imagined a really simple, low-distraction site where I could generate beats of any frequency myself, rather than having to use YouTube or Spotify.

Inspired by pomodoro timers, I thought I could add a timer to set the beats to play for e.g. 30 minutes of intense focus.

About

Binaural Focus exists to provide a free, low distraction way to generate binaural beats for focus/meditation. I chose to build it as my first product as I wanted to start with something super simple while I learn.
