Black speakers directory
Help conference and event organisers diversify the stage
We wanted to find a sustainable pricing model so we approached event organisers via various slack groups and in person at events.
After a few interviews it seems the best (initial) approach is to go for a year subscription modal.
We're using just a simple Stripe checkout with Auth0 user management. Will be looking to integrated more tightly with Auth0 app meta data to create a more cohesive experience in the coming weeks.
I'm now wanting to drive some traffic so starting simply with some Twitter ads around event and conference keywords/phrases.
Following in @levelsio's shoes and his amazing Nomad List, I've added an 'Open Startup' page to the site to start showing stats around page views.. (revenue will be added in due course)

Looking forward to sharing more as I add more features to the site.

I wanted to get the first version/iteration of the site live as soon as possible so approached in a lean route.
I'm using the following: Airtable, Vue.js & Netlify.
I'm using Airtbale to both gather and serve speaker information through their API - love Airtable! (Going to have to watch out for their rate limit as the site gains traction)

If you're a speaker of black heritage, get featured:

Went to a TechUK event and noticed a lack of racial diversity on the stage.
I wanted to contribute in changing that so came up with the idea of building a directory of black speakers to help organisers diversify the expertise, experiences and opinions expressed from the stage.

Conferences and events still lack racial diversity and we want to contribute to changing that. We're building a directory of black speakers to help conference and event organisers diversify the stage.
