Blog Surf
A directory of personal blogs
I made the most stripped down version of the website that I thought would still be somewhat useful. Tried to follow the Paul Graham advice of building something with a "quantum of utility".
This initial version was just a list of blogs with their urls and rss feeds. It had more or less 0 styles, and was pretty embarrassing.
The "launch" was just sending an email to one of the bloggers that was listed on the site to let him know about it, and he responded positively.
This was around the time when I first started thinking about organizing content on the internet. At that point the idea was to create a "search engine for advice" or something like that, by compiling all of the advice from successful people in podcasts and blog posts. I launched a tiny MVP of that idea on Product Hunt, and it failed. Then I ignored this idea for months before picking it back up again.
