ProductHunt launch was.. a spectacular failure
This was my first launch on ProductHunt. Not sure what I did wrong or maybe the designs weren't that good, but I ended up with exactly 1 upvote other than mine.
Next Step: Post on Reddit later this week.

When you launch a product, it goes on the "newest" tab. Nobody goes there. To reach the frontpage you need to get 20 upvotes, so you should launch and then promote your link everywhere you can.
You cant ask directly for upvotes, you can say things like "support my launch".
When you appear on Product Hunt (as in, time of the day), how you're submitted and featured there (as in, product descriptions and screenshots), and whom you're able to convince to give you a hand with upvotes — there are so many factors at play. We "only" had 85 upvotes on PH and I attribute that largely to me not having a huge PH network of people that I know well. I also had it posted right close to midnight, asked about 15 people to give me a boost, etc.
I want to launch on Product Hunt but it feels as though it rewards gaming the system more than the actual merits of the product. For me I am positioning it as a second stage launch - when you have users and connections who are psyched to upvote, instead of trying to artificially harvest upvotes and connections when you are first launched and simply trying to get the product in front of more users and validate product market fit.
May I ask..what was your overall PH launch ?
What other product discovery sites did you list your product in ?

Is there "next time" in terms of PH?
It is. You can either make significant changes to a core of the product, and resubmit as 2.0, or promote it (paid feature).
You can always make a side project and launch it there as well.
Oh, nice. I didn't know that. I thought they give you only one chance :)
