Since 2010 we've been running Borderless Solutions a local install business in Melbourne doing CCTV, alarms, Starlink, and smart home setups for homes and businesses.

No funding, no big marketing budget. Just licensed techs doing solid, on-time work and letting reviews do the talking. A few things that actually moved the needle for us:

1. Same-day service became our biggest differentiator. In a trade where people are used to waiting a week for a callback, showing up same-day builds trust fast and trust is what turns into referrals.

2. We leaned into a niche most competitors ignored. Everyone does CCTV. Fewer people do Starlink installs well, especially in rural/regional areas. That became a quiet growth channel people search "Starlink installer near me" and we're one of very few licensed options.

3. Local SEO + genuinely useful blog content. Instead of generic "top 10 security tips" posts, we write about real problems customers ask us on the phone "why is my TV pixelating," "what NBN speed do I actually need." Boring topics, but they rank, and they convert because they answer a real question.

4. We treat licensing/compliance as a selling point, not paperwork. In security/trade services, being fully licensed and insured is a trust signal a lot of customers actively check for before hiring anyone.
