Bowdown
Multiplayer, browser based, archery combat game
It's been mostly friends and family that have pledged which is worrisome. I need to start figuring out how to get the word out to more people all over the world. Honestly if I could have I should have waited until the game was more developed to start a Kickstarter. But the time was right. My contract at Google is ending. They want to extend it but if I can raise enough money to do my passion then I'm out of there!
I wanted to start working on Bowdown full time and I wanted to be able to pay for rent while I do it without digging too much into my savings. So I made a Kickstarter! I learned how to make a logo in Adobe Illustrator and video in Adobe Premiere Pro!

I was inspired by https://krunker.io/
It's actually a pretty great 3d first person shooter and it all works seamlessly from your browser. The creator used Unity to make it which I've always been deterred by, due to the learning curve. Then I found a JavaScript library called three.js that allows you to do 3d graphics pretty easily in the browser. So I figured I'd mess around with it and see what I can do.
I worked on the game for about an hour a day for 5 months.
The game started as a world with a cube that you could move around. Then there were more cubes. Then those cubes became people. Then I gave the people bows and arrows and grappling hooks.

I love video games and have always wanted to make one. Then I realized I could, using JavaScript and a WebGL library called three.js
