Box This Idea
An idea vault that helps you grow your ideas!
I bet this is the story of every single indie developer out there. Started this as a small 1-week idea implementation. Finished the core thing in like 3-4 days, and then started doing all these secondary things that you shouldn't be doing and just go f*cking launch.
I've rebuild the homepage 2-3 times (eventually came up with a spinning cube concept that I loved, and that made me stop re-making it).
I added a dashboard (although I initially told myself it's not needed for v1) and even added extra features like 'Idea additions', which is a feature on top of the 'Ideas' that the app is supposed to be tracking. I've also tangled a bit with SEO and tried to implement some stuff onto the landing page (which I could have avoided alltogether)
I did got a chance to use this for myself which really helped remove serious bugs and also proved me that it works as I thought which was a good thing (I did scratch my own itch π)
There are still a bunch of stuff that I added to my todo list, but after reading my last post I realized that this is a never ending endeavor. Enough building for now, I should first launch this and get some real feedback from people before I do anything else.
I wrapped up development yesterday (although I couldn't stop myself from creating a non-needed logo before I did, but damn it looks nice) and will focus the next 2 weeks to share this with my own network. If no major flaws occur, I'll be posting this on PH!
Just finished out a contract last week, and I finally have time to work on this! Goal is to finish this in a week-sprint and then push for a PH launch as soon as possible.
I do feel an inherent 'fear' to launch to PH (everybody is making it such a huge thing, finding the proper timing, having an audience to vote for you, build up anticipation etc) which doesn't make sense, as I have already decided this is a small enough idea that I can anyway 'burn' for the PH launch, which will also help me 'learn' about these launches. But still, it gets to me π€.

I've been busting my head lately how people manage to get followers on social when you start from nothing. Sharing thoughts on social isn't really my thing. Building stuff is.
Can't I use those stuff as a way to drive followers to my social? Everybody says 'build an audience' for all the obvious reasons. The how is the issue.
A good idea is to try leveraging product hunt as a way to build up an initial audience. How? By building small side-projects and doing multiple PH launches. And for that to work, I need small-enough ideas that I can 'burn' for a PH launch. BoxThisIdea seems ideal!

Had an idea about an "Idea wall", something that you can add ideas on the fly as text and and then have them always load randomly.
Why? I want something freeform. Something to mix it up. Something that allows me to come up with even more ideas, by combining ideas to generate new. That's closer to how my brain works. I've been using Kanban for some time now, but It feels more 'rigid', and doesn't allow me to brainstorm properly.

I keep coming up with ideas that I note down tend to forget after a while. But whenever I decide to go over those old ideas I usually end up coming with better ones! So I've build BoxThisIdea to help me do just that!

Very interesting landing page concept :D
Haha. I just couldn't resist the urge to build a 3d box using css. You never have any serious reason to do so when building webpages... and this seemed such a golden opportunity. Love that you liked it! Thanks!
