BriefForge

Turn your raw startup idea into an investor-ready brief.

May 31, 2026 I built a free AI brief generator for African startup founders — here's what I learned in week 1

Background: I kept watching founders in Accra pitch brilliant ideas

with terrible briefs. A consultant charges $500+ to write a startup

one-pager. That felt wrong.

So I built BriefForge — a free AI tool that turns your raw startup

idea into a structured, investor-ready brief in 10 seconds. No

signup. No credit card. Just paste and generate.

What I learned building and launching it:

1. The tool is the easy part. Distribution is the actual product.

I can build. Getting the right founders to find it is a completely

different skill I'm learning in real time.

2. "Free" only works if the quality is undeniable.

If the free tool isn't genuinely impressive, nobody buys the paid

products behind it. So I spent 80% of my time on the AI prompt

engineering — making the output actually good.

3. African founders are underserved by every existing tool.

Every brief generator assumes USD markets, Silicon Valley investors,

and US-centric language. BriefForge is calibrated for Lagos,

Nairobi, Accra, Cairo. That specificity is the moat.

4. Build in public or nobody knows you exist.

Zero marketing budget. Everything is organic — Reddit, WhatsApp

groups, direct DMs to founders. It's slow but the feedback is real.

What I built:

→ Free AI brief generator (the hook)

→ P1 Founder Writing System — 30 templates for $9

→ P2 Startup Visual Asset Pack — 35 design assets for $15

Happy to answer anything about the build, the AI prompting,

the African startup context, or the distribution challenge.

What's worked for others here when launching with zero budget?
