First Sponsor

One of my goals for July was to gain a sponsor for the weekly newsletter. That didn't happen.

But now, 1 week into August, I managed to check that off the list! Another first for me and I'm so excited to get some brand-relationships going for BMP. Ideally, I wanted someone long-term (3 month commitment) to establish a relationship between not only us, but them with my audience.

I guess that will still take some time to find that one, but I've got almost the whole month of September booked with a sponsor for my newsletter.

    Congrats!

Would you mind sharing how you word your emails when reaching out to potential advertisers.

I'm up to that stage and curious how others do it.

    Best of luck.

I do a very simple approach. I let them know how I find their content useful, how my audience will benefit from them, and how I have 1 sponsor spot available in my newsletter. I let them know if they are interested, I'd love to share more details.
Once someone is interested, in the follow-up email, I then do a little summary of my newsletter. I let them know how many people are on it and what the growing trend is at). I word this like "you have the potential to reach X amount of people". I also let them know what the average open rate, and the frequency of which my newsletter sends out.
I also let them know that this spot is non-competitive, meaning that they will have the only sponsor spot in my newsletter. Any other links provided are my own content.
That last one is definitely dependent upon your business, if you provide external resources, then of course it's smarter to try and get as many sponsors as possible. But since my project connects on a more personal level, I try to maintain the trust I've built by only speaking about 1 other business.
Then to finish the follow-up, I state my rates.

        Great stuff!

Definitely wasn't aware of non-competitiveness being a selling point.

        Thanks for the insight 🙌
