Hi Indie Hackers!
I wanted to share a major milestone I just hit with my project, Budget Prepper Tools (BPT). I’ve officially moved from a simple calculator site to a full-blown cross-platform ecosystem.
The Context: Most survival tools are geared towards the US market and carry a heavy "tacticool" price tag. I wanted to build something data-driven, budget-friendly, and truly global.
The Technical Challenge: My goal was to maintain perfect data parity between a reactive Web App and an offline-first Android App.
The Solution: BPT is now a dual-front ecosystem:
Web Hub: A suite of tactical calculators (Nutrition, Fuel, Power) now localized into 12 languages. I’ve implemented an automated SEO pipeline that pre-renders 192 static pages to ensure global discoverability.
BPT Plus (Android): A Kotlin-based powerhouse built for the "off-the-grid" mission. It features high-frequency data sync with the web hub and offline navigation, ensuring your survival plans are accessible even when the internet goes down.
The Stack:
Frontend: React + Vite (Static pre-rendering for SEO).
Backend: Node.js (Deployed on Hostinger).
Mobile: Kotlin + Room (Encrypted offline database).
What I’ve learned so far: Solo-developing a sync logic that handles localized data across 12 languages while maintaining performance on low-end mobile devices is a beast. But seeing the first organic clicks coming in from countries like Germany, Poland, and Brazil makes it all worth it.
