BudgetSyncer

European YNAB bank sync

June 3, 2026 Building a tiny SaaS for one annoying problem: European bank sync for YNAB

I’ve been building BudgetSyncer, a small product that syncs European bank transactions into YNAB.

It exists because I thought the existing workflow was way too annoying:
manual exports, CSV imports, duplicate cleanup, and a budget that never quite felt current.

The interesting thing is that this problem is very niche, but also very real. I’m not trying to build a giant budgeting app. I’m trying to solve one frustrating workflow for a specific kind of user.

What seems true so far:
- the problem is real enough that people will pay if they trust it
- the hardest part is not the sync itself, it’s trust
- marketing is probably less about broad awareness and more about owning “European bank sync for YNAB”
- supported-bank pages may be a better growth channel than generic launch traffic

Right now I’m working on:
- Stripe integration
- trust improvements on the homepage
- bank-specific landing pages
- getting first paying users

If you’ve built a finance-adjacent SaaS, I’d love to hear what mattered most early:
- trust signals?
- pricing simplicity?
- content/SEO?
- partnerships?

This is a good niche because the pain is narrow, annoying, and already tied to a paid tool people use seriously.

I’d be careful not to market it like a generic budgeting integration though. The sharper angle is probably:

“Keep YNAB current with your European bank without CSV cleanup.”

That speaks directly to the frustration.

For early trust, I’d focus less on broad polish and more on specific proof: which banks are supported, what permissions are required, what data you do not store, how duplicates are handled, and what happens if sync fails.

The bank-specific pages sound like the right growth channel too. Someone searching for “YNAB Revolut sync Europe” or “YNAB N26 import” is much closer to paying than someone reading a generic launch post.

Happy to put a tighter version in writing if useful. I’d map the trust signals, bank-page structure, first paid-user path, and a simple 7-day acquisition test.

About

I use YNAB in Finland. Manual entry and CSV imports meant my budget was often days behind. I built BudgetSyncer to sync European banks to YNAB via open banking.
