I set aside a few hours yesterday to attempt to build the MVP using Bubble. For context, I've been a PHP/Laravel dev for nearly 10 years. I wanted to give no code a try in an attempt to no become the dinosaur that got left behind - tech changes significantly over 10 years.
I've recently experimented with Framer and Webflow and they were both great experiences. However, Bubble seems like it's still a few years away from the ease of use these other builders provide. Obviously, I know that Webflow is mostly for websites and Bubble for webapps. To me, I think I can still move much faster by spinning up a new Laravel project.
So that's the plan, move back to Laravel and spin up the MVP.
I'll say this about no code - I'm not the best with UI/UX and that's a major plus for all these tools. Out of the box, they look great and function correctly.
I really enjoy the backend work so I was hopeful that's all I was going to focus on.
I've been very intentional about not writing any code until I figured out if other people had the same issue I did.
After launching the newsletter and website, I put on some feelers on social (mainly reddit).
To my surprise, others were intrigued by the idea and wanted to see a demo.
A good sign!
Also, I just logged into my newletter (using beehiiv) and I was really happy to see I had landed some subscribers.
So excited, I ran to tell my wife.
Plan for this week:
- Start brainstorming the MVP
- Put some thought into long term revenue
- Grow subs

Hey David,
I definitely agree with your take on no-code tools like Bubble. Webflow and Framer have done a fantastic job. When that software is fully utilized it is hard to tell you're on a no-code website.
To me, Bubble is like the uncanny valley theory but for software. Even when it is functional, something still feels a bit off, and it's pinpoint exactly what. No-code software apps seems to have a certain "feel" to it.
Nonetheless, it's exciting to see these apps continue to improve. Hopefully in the near future we'll be able to spin up quick MVPs!
