BuilderAlone
Freelancing , Hiring
I’m a software engineer with a little over 2 years of experience.
I like building software — but I’ve always hated how I’m expected to work.
Sitting in front of a monitor for fixed hours, working on ideas I don’t connect with, asking permission for time…
It always felt like working inside a cage for a salary. That life never felt like me.
I love traveling. I love being in nature.
And I believe good work doesn’t need constant supervision or fixed hours — it needs focus and freedom.
So I started looking for remote work.
That’s when reality hit.
I applied to many remote jobs.
Most of them never replied.
Not because I was bad — but because:
The competition was insane
My work wasn’t showcased well
Portfolios took too long to evaluate
And freelance platforms turned everything into bidding wars
On freelancing sites, the best builder doesn’t always win.
The cheapest or fastest bidder does.
That felt wrong.
So I asked myself a simple question:
What if builders didn’t have to beg for work?
What if clients discovered people instead of sorting proposals?
That’s how BuilderAlone started.
The idea is simple:
Short, clear, human profiles
No long portfolios to scroll
No bidding
No middleman commission
Clients browse quickly.
If they like you, they start the conversation.
When a client messages you first they already like your work, there’s no hesitation.
The discussion starts at a better place.
BuilderAlone is for people like me —
Who love building, but not cages.
Who want freedom, not bidding wars.
Who want their work to speak, not their proposal-writing skills.
It’s very early.
There are no users yet.
And that’s okay.
Right now, I’m just trying to learn:
Does this problem resonate with other solo builders?
How do you currently get visibility?
What’s the hardest part of finding meaningful work for you?
If this story feels familiar, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
About
BuilderAlone exists to help solo builders get visibility without bidding wars, spam, or commissions. I built it after struggling with remote work and freelancing platforms that reward proposals over real skills.
