July 15, 2026 The build in public stack I actually stuck with after trying almost everything

Hey IH! 👋

Over the past month of building BuildTrail publicly, one question has come up again and again:

"What tools do you actually use to build in public?"

At first, I kept adding more tools.

  • Notion

  • X

  • Indie Hackers

  • Analytics

  • Loom

  • A newsletter

It felt productive.

In reality, I was spending more time managing my workflow than actually documenting my journey.

The biggest lesson?

The problem isn't discipline. It's complexity.

Today my stack is much simpler:

  • X for conversations and daily updates.

  • BuildTrail for keeping my startup journey in one permanent place.

  • Indie Hackers for milestone posts and longer reflections.

  • Loom for product demos and launches.

  • Analytics to understand what users are actually doing.

  • A newsletter once you've built an audience that wants to hear from you.

Everything else is optional.

I wrote a longer breakdown of why I use each tool, where each one shines, and where each one falls short.

I'd genuinely love to hear from this community:

Has your build-in-public stack changed over time?

Is there one tool you couldn't build without?

April 26, 2026 Launched BuildTrail - a public page for founders who build in public 🚀

Hey Indie Hackers!

Just shipped something I've been building for a while and wanted to share it here first.

The idea came from my own experience. I was building ViewUs about a year ago - posting everything on Twitter. Revenue, users, milestones, lessons. But I kept noticing the same thing: all that content was disappearing. There was no permanent record of the journey.

I looked around and there was no tool that let founders track and publicly share their entire startup story in one place. Not scattered tweets. Not a Notion page nobody finds. A proper public page with your milestones, revenue, users and updates - that you can share with one link.

So I built BuildTrail.

What it does:

— Track milestones as you hit them

— Log revenue and user count over time

— Post updates like a public changelog

— Share it all with one public link

— Control exactly what's visible

It's free to start. Paid plan is $9/mo.

Launched 2 days ago - already have first users and real feedback coming in.

Would genuinely love feedback from this community - you're exactly who I built this for.

What would make this more useful for your own journey?

About

I built in public a year ago, sharing milestones and revenue on Twitter, but everything kept getting buried in timelines. So I built BuildTrail: one public page for your entire startup journey.
