November 19, 2025 Why I built a tool to stop opening 500 tabs just to change meta descriptions

I wanted to share a bit of the journey behind my project, Bulk SEO Importer, and get some feedback from this community.

The Problem: "Click. Wait. Edit. Update. Repeat." If you’ve ever managed a large WordPress site or done agency work, you know the pain. A client sends over a spreadsheet with new Meta Titles and Descriptions for 200 blog posts.

The standard workflow?

  1. Open the post.

  2. Scroll down to the SEO plugin (Yoast, RankMath, etc.).

  3. Paste the text.

  4. Click Update.

  5. Wait for the reload.

  6. Do it 199 more times.

I realized I was wasting hours of my life on data entry that should take 5 minutes. I looked for a solution that was simple, lightweight, and just worked with the tools I already used. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, so... I built it.

The Solution Bulk SEO Importer allows you to export your post data to a CSV, edit everything in Excel or Google Sheets (where bulk editing is actually fast), and re-import it.

It handles:

✅ Meta Titles & Descriptions

✅ OpenGraph & Twitter Cards

✅ Focus Keywords & Canonical URLs

✅ New: Multilingual support (WPML & Polylang) – just finished coding this!

The "Building in Public" Reality Check It hasn't been a straight line. I actually just spent the last few days debugging a nightmare issue where Excel wasn't reading special characters (umlauts, accents) correctly in the CSV exports.

It turned out to be a missing UTF-8 BOM header in the PHP generator. One invisible character sequence was breaking the file for German and French users. 😅 It’s fixed now in version 3.1.3, but it was a good reminder that the "boring" technical details (like file encoding) often matter most for user experience.

Where I’m at now The plugin operates on a Freemius model (Free core + Pro features). I’m currently trying to reach more agency owners and developers who are tired of the manual grind.

I’d love your feedback:

  1. If you manage WP sites, is this a pain point you have?

  2. How do you currently handle bulk updates?

  3. Any feedback on the landing page/messaging?

First I wanted to download all the meta description for my yoast page all at once through a csv file but this is not possible on SEO plugins for WordPress. Hence I took time to code a plugin that simply does that.
